Phil co-authored Customers Included the book widely praised by CEOs, venture capitalists and entrepreneurs for its practical and passionate focus on building better businesses.
Phil has given more than 150 keynote speeches at events like Shop.org, Harvard Business School Distinguished Speaker Series, Forbes, Inc. and at many private corporate events at startup and large companies like Blue Cross Blue Shield, Care.com, L’Oreal, Reuters, Yahoo!, eBay and Danny Meyer’s top-rated Union Square Cafe and Gramercy Tavern restaurants in New York City. He’s been profiled and quoted extensively in publications like the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times and named by Fast Company as one of the Fast Company 100 – 100 leaders shaping the 21st century. Phil began his career at Moody’s Investors Service and spent time at PlanetAll (before the sale to Amazon) and McKinsey & Co.
Phil is on the Advisory Board of VC-funded customer experience startup, StellaService, is a member and past officer of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), and holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was given the Dean’s Award for leadership (a distinction granted each year to 1% of the graduating class). He’s a past Kaufman Fellow and in his spare time he runs two innovative nonprofits that are changing the customer experience in art and literature – Slow Art Day and Reading Odyssey. He lives with his wife in Brooklyn.
